It achieves both a focal length image equivalent to 16-35mm in 35mm format and a lightweight and compact design. By using special optical materials such as aspherical lenses and Super UD lenses, various aberrations are well corrected, achieving excellent high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. It also features a full-time manual focus mechanism. The optical design takes into consideration that the light reflected by the image sensor of a digital SLR camera does not adversely affect image quality, and the optimization of the coating achieves both the suppression of flare and ghosting and a good color balance. EF-S: This lens employs an optical system and mechanical structure optimized for digital SLR cameras with an image sensor smaller than 35mm full-frame size (APS-C size).
