VHS Video: "Some Kind of Wonderful" This is a used, ex-rental VHS video. This film is irresistible because of Jennifer Connelly's charm! Oh, how incredibly charming she is! Her glistening eyes, her figure, everything is captivating. The fact that she doesn't smile much is also mysterious and wonderful! As a film, it's an American movie with classic direction and settings, which is surprisingly fresh. The simple, gentle pace makes it feel like a one-volume manga, making you think, "It's ending soon, what's going to happen?" and drawing you in. It's a comedy love story that fulfills a man's wish for a silly, dreamlike tale. The setting of "a nerdy young man's romance with a once-in-a-lifetime Madonna" would feel predictable and disappointing if filmed today with popular actors in both roles, both in Japan and America. However, this film features Jennifer Connelly and Frank Whaley in their early careers. Looking back, it can be called a hidden masterpiece. Even I, despite being a smooth talker and completely useless, was moved to tears when the man and the rich but lonely girl, drawn to each other, dance and kiss. I truly believe this is a film with the good old-fashioned charm of Hollywood movies, even though it's basic. I was able to watch it on my home video player.
