This is a Kobukusa (old silk cloth). Please use it when serving matcha or as a mat. [Fabric] Rare material made of genuine silk crepe with a scattering of karuta (playing cards) featuring waka poems from the Hyakunin Isshu (Ogura Hyakunin Isshu). Gold leaf is subtly applied to the edges of the karuta and the foliage. The characters are written with a unique brushstroke. This design is sure to tickle the fancy of those who are well-versed in classics and literature, so please try to decipher the waka poems ❤️ This material has been treated with water repellent (such as Pearl Tone). As this is a Kobukusa, I have applied a core to give it a slightly crisp finish. [Size] The traditional size of Kobukusa used in the Urasenke school of tea ceremony. Some people also use it in Kodo (incense ceremony). Finished size: Made with a pattern of 5 sun (15.2cm) x 5 sun 3 bu (16.3cm), but please allow for some variation. [Sewing Method] Three sides are sewn, and the short side of 5 sun is a "wa" (folded edge). No knot. ❤️ Since it is new, there is no crease in the center. When folding in half, place the "wa" on the right side, choose your favorite side as the front, and fold it in half.
