Sonora German Bassoon This is a Sonora bassoon, made in Germany, before the company was absorbed by Adler. This instrument was likely manufactured in the late 1980s, and has a thick, mellow tone, with good breath support, making it easy to play. The body and keys show signs of aging, such as scratches, paint peeling, and tarnished plating, but there are no operational issues. I have used it several times this year in wind band performances. The corks on the joints and the pads were checked for any problems within the last three months during a complete adjustment. The cork on the U-tube has been replaced for this sale. Accessories include a hard case, two bocals (Sonora and Schreiber, both size 2), a hand rest, a neck strap, and a reed case for three reeds.
