This film, directed by Masahiro Kobayashi, stars Tatsuya Nakadai for the third time, following "Haru to no Tabi" and "Japan's Tragedy." Chokichi Kuwahata, who has over half a century of experience as an actor and was once a major star in film and theater. Suspected of having dementia, Chokichi is betrayed by his family, forced to write a will, and sent to a high-class nursing home. One day, escaping from the facility, Chokichi, wearing silk pajamas and a coat, dragging a suitcase, wanders aimlessly along the beach and unexpectedly reunites with his daughter, Nobuko. Nobuko was the child Chokichi had with a woman other than his wife, but Chokichi had driven Nobuko out of the house because he couldn't forgive her for giving birth to an illegitimate child. Chokichi sees the illusion of Cordelia, King Lear's daughter, in the reunited Nobuko. Tatsuya Nakadai plays the protagonist, Chokichi, and the cast includes a lineup of talented actors such as Hana Kuroki, Yoshiko Mita, Kaoru Kobayashi, and Hiroshi Abe.
