I've already deleted the listing, but I sold about 4 or 5 of these old cloths before. I thought I was out, but I found more in the chest. The white paper in the image is there because the color looks different without it. There are uneven weaves and damaged areas. The fabric is thick. When folded three times, it stands up like in the image. However, it's not woven as tightly as a sake bag, and it's somewhat translucent when held up to the light (I tried it, and sake bags are also translucent). You could say it feels lighter than a sake bag. Also, the weave is different on the front and back. Because of this, there's a slight difference in the shade of color between the front and back. I think the fabric is cotton. Someone skilled in Japanese or Western tailoring could probably make something interesting with it. The colors are quite subdued.
