Tanaka Houen He uses gold and silver to create gorgeous Kyo-iroe (Kyoto-style colored painting), exploring the Rimpa school and traditional Japanese beauty, and expressing them in a modern style on tea bowls, mizusashi (water jars), etc. He studied under Miyagawa Kousai of Makuzu-yaki. He was involved for 38 years until Heisei 14 (2002). Certified as a Kyoto-yaki Kiyomizu-yaki Traditional Craftsman in Heisei 22 (2010). Certified as a "Kyoto Master Craftsman" by the Kyoto City Traditional Industry Technology Merit Award in Heisei 29 (2017).
