It makes the sound more focused and centered, and the volume increases, which I highly recommend. I am selling it because I am switching to a different brand of instrument. There is a "P" engraved on the back. This is exclusively for Powell flutes. Please note that it may not fit other brands (it apparently doesn't fit Muramatsu).
