I'm selling this as a trial to see what a Hinoki (Japanese cypress) cutting board with a hand-planed finish is like. *Photos 7 and 8 show slight cracks on the surface (I don't think they're split). Completely handmade! ✩ Finished with hand-planing by a professional for excellent water drainage! [Material] Shinano Hinoki (Japanese cypress) single board ✩ One corner is beveled, making it easier to lift. [Good Points] ✩ I believe that an [unpainted] cutting board is the best, so I've finished it with hand-planing to achieve that. The chamfered parts are also finished using well-sharpened blades. First, it's planed, then wetted with water to raise the grain, and then planed again after drying, so I think the grain raising due to water exposure during use is minimized. Also, the end grain, which is usually difficult to plane, is also finished with a plane. This allows water to drain away in the shortest amount of time without trapping grain or sanding marks, minimizing the deterioration of the wood due to water absorption. ✩ Predicting the direction in which the wood will warp, and also considering the blade contact, it is slightly and gently curved to match the individual characteristics of the wood. This is also a technique that can only be done by hand-planing. ✩ No [sandpaper] is used in the production of the cutting board, so there is no worry about the remaining abrasive particles damaging the knife or eating the sanding dust. ✩ The rough sandpaper finish that is often seen recently looks smooth at first glance, but it becomes slippery when wet.
