Approximately 39 x 35 x 1.5 cm, size 13 shaku (尺三) Purchased in Fukuoka City around the beginning of the Heisei era. Made of Echizen lacquerware, wooden, red and black reversible half-moon tray, tray, set of five. Not resin. It's more casual and lighter than high-end Wajima lacquerware or old-fashioned legged trays, which was nice. I only used half of the 10 trays in 2 sets, so these five are unused and in beautiful condition. The box is a paper cosmetic box, but it's tattered and has personal notes on it, so I will send it without the box. The cellophane tape on the thin paper wrapping each tray has turned brown, but the trays themselves are in very good condition. Although they are new and unused, they were purchased nearly 40 years ago, so please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for a current "new" condition. Times have changed, and when searching online for Echizen lacquerware, natural wood, double-sided half-moon trays, they seem to be around 10,000 yen each. Nowadays, size 12 shaku (36 cm) is more common than size 13 shaku (39 cm), but the 3 cm larger size enhances the presentation. The red and black sides change the atmosphere even with the same dishes. Both sides have raised edges for safety. The light and華やかな (gorgeous/splendid) atmosphere makes them easy to combine with modern lacquerware from brands like Zohiko and Yamada Heiando. Perfect for meals, drinking parties, Japanese cuisine, Chinese cuisine, or a cafe-style setting, they are versatile. I am also listing other lacquerware items.
