The model appears to be based on a Royal Scot Class locomotive (4-6-0 wheel arrangement), a type of express train engine manufactured in the 1920s by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). The tender bears the BRITISH RAILWAYS mark. Airfix is now a plastic model manufacturer, but it also produced model trains until the 1970s. The underside of the body is stamped MADE IN HONG KONG and the year 1977, suggesting it was a relatively affordable model. The case and accessories are missing; only the train car is available. Operation has been confirmed after power was applied, but due to the tender drive (the tender is the motor car and pushes the boiler section), there is a "being pushed" feeling, and the rods may not move properly when going forward. This might be resolved by adding weight to the boiler section. Also, the operating sound is quite loud. Regarding the external condition, the right-side deflector (smoke deflector) is missing (see image 12).
