Taro Aso (born September 20, 1940) is a Japanese politician, businessman, and former shooting athlete. He is a member of the House of Representatives (15 terms) for the Liberal Democratic Party, Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party, Supreme Advisor, and Chairman of the Shikokai. He is also the Chairman of the Yasuhiro Nakasone Peace Institute. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1979.
