Garuda Statue Sculpture Bali Folk Art This statue sculpture was purchased from a workshop in Ubud, Bali about 40 years ago. The material appears to be the horn of a cow or water buffalo, judging by the ivory color and texture. Garuda is a divine bird in Hindu mythology, also known as Karura in Buddhism, and is said to carry the Buddha and fly through the three worlds, the universe, and the world. In Bali Hinduism, the image of Garuda flying with the god Vishnu is popular. I loved it very much and bought both of the two Garuda statues I found, and this is one of them. (The other one is also listed.) The height is about 16cm, and it leans forward slightly, but it is not unstable. Overall, it looks a bit dusty. It is difficult to objectively assess the degree of dirt, so please take a close look at the photos and make your own judgment. The dirt can be cleaned by using detergent, but I have not done so. I will carefully wrap it in cushioning material before shipping.
