About 20 years ago, I purchased many of these for a tole painting club I was in, and I carefully stored and used them in a dark place inside cardboard boxes. The activity ended a few years ago, and I am selling the unused stock. Although they are quite old, they have been stored in a dark drawer in a second-floor room, wrapped in film, so there is no warping or mold, and they are in beautiful condition. The lid of the pen box appears to be simply placed on top, as can be seen in the fourth photo. Note that a part of the film wrapping the pen box is damaged, but this does not affect the unfinished wood itself. Both products are no longer sold and are rare. The prices written on the labels are from that time (consumption tax was 5%), and unfinished wood products have increased in price now, and the consumption tax has also increased, so I think these are a good deal.
