This is a large and impressive lipstick-red lacquerware bowl by Wajima's master craftsman, Izaburo Sumi. Although it is unused, it has been on display for many years, so there are fine scratches, cloudiness, and slight wear on the surface (see photos). It has a unique texture due to aging, and you can enjoy its powerful atmosphere. Features of the Goshiki Bowl The Goshiki bowl is a traditional lacquerware bowl made in the Goshiki area of Noto Town, Noto Peninsula, since the Edo period. It has a deep, large shape with enough capacity to hold both soup and rice in one bowl, and a high foot that makes it easy to hold.
