Hand dyeing (indigo, persimmon tannin, and plant dyeing) results in completely different colors depending on the season, time, weather, dyeing materials, the dyer, and the mordant. This is due to the excess indigo on the surface washing off, and it is different from fading that occurs in the threads or fabric. Also, there is no need to worry about color transfer to other items, but washing it with water before use will provide more peace of mind. ☆Plant Dyeing My plant dyeing primarily uses a primitive method of collecting plants and repeatedly boiling and dyeing them. However, for plants that are not available in Japan, such as logwood and redwood, I use concentrated liquid. The colors often vary each time. Plant residue and fibers may be attached, but please understand that they are harmless. ☆Persimmon Tannin Dyeing Persimmon tannin dyeing develops color through exposure to sunlight and wind during the drying process. The dyeing process involves rubbing the dye solution into the fabric once a day and drying it in the sun repeatedly. Due to its characteristics, the finish has a crisp, starched-like feel. × Iron: The blackening property is utilized by contact with iron, bringing out the bitterness.
