Seiko announced the "Quartz Astron" in 1969 as the world's first quartz wristwatch. A few years later, this model was positioned as Seiko's highest-end line at the time. The original selling price was ¥135,000. This was about 3 to 4 times more expensive than the mechanical Grand Seiko (56GS ¥37,000~) of the same period. This watch is a testament to the era when quartz was so valuable. It remains a very popular model among enthusiasts even today. While there are minor scratches on the case and crystal due to use, they are within the range that gives it a vintage feel. The dial is a deep blue that looks almost black. It's a rare color with few remaining examples.
