The entire surface is engraved with a tortoise shell pattern. I have been using this tea kettle for about 10 years, following the Urasenke school's traditions, and diligently cleaning it after each use. I haven't used it for the past year. Those experienced in the tea ceremony will understand, but the inside of the kettle has developed a good amount of iron rust, which is desirable. The artist is unknown, and it comes without a box.
