The smooth texture, the subtle pinkish mottling, and the weighty, cool touch, along with the exquisite carving of grapes holding real fruit, make this a truly exceptional piece. I believe that a large and beautiful obi-dome like this, made of coral, is quite rare. The design, which makes the most of the magnificent coral branches without excessive ornamentation, can be used not only for Japanese attire but also as a brooch for Western clothing. It has the appearance of a genuine Japanese jewelry treasure. I would like to introduce it to obi-dome collectors as a beautiful item. The condition has been preserved over a long period, and it appears to have been carefully stored, with no major noticeable stains or scratches. However, upon close inspection with a magnifying glass, there are a few areas with thin cracks. These are believed to be from the time of purchase. (I have never used it since purchasing it from an antique shop.) In preparation for listing, the metal fittings on the back have been cleaned at a jewelry store, but there is some remaining dullness that could not be removed. Please understand.
