I am a miyadaiku (temple carpenter), and this is a piece that I had made as a memento about five years ago when I was given some susudake (smoked bamboo) from a 150+ year old kominka (traditional Japanese house) by Hidetaka-sama. I was told that it was a very valuable flute, so I tried to play it for about 30 minutes, but I am a complete beginner when it comes to shinobue (bamboo flute), and I have kept it carefully stored ever since... It would be a waste for me to keep it, so I would like to offer it to someone who will use it. I'm really a beginner, is it a do-re-mi scale? There's an eight (八) written inside the tile, so is it an eight-hon-choshi (key of eight)?
