This is a bolt of fabric for a summer kimono, featuring a black background with scattered pink, blue, and yellow autumn leaves, created using the paste-resist dyeing (nui-oki) and hand-painted yuzen techniques. It was among the buried treasures (?), as it were, of my mother, who passed away last year. I believe she was saving it to make a kimono for her daughter. I've found a mountain of other fabrics as well, including new bolts and those that had been washed and stretched, apparently with the intention of being re-sewn! This is one of them. It would be lovely to wear this cool kimono out and about this coming summer. There is some discoloration on the selvedges of the fabric, but it should be within the seam allowance when sewn.
