The first generation Shunpo (1896-1965) was a technical preservation artist certified by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and was commissioned as "Obaku Tosho" (Yellow Cliff Potter) by Obaku-san Mampuku-ji Temple, making him a leading figure in sencha utensils. He also had a deep relationship with the tea master Tantansai of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony and was given the calligraphy "Shunpo Hana Jikai" (Shunpo's flowers bloom naturally). The second generation Shunpo (1928-1997) was the eldest daughter of the first generation. She excelled in sometsuke, colored painting, and Kochi techniques, and presented sencha utensils to Crown Princess Michiko. The third generation Shunpo (1950-) is the eldest son of the second generation. After studying glazes at the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramic Training School and the Kyoto City Industrial Experiment Station, he honed his skills under the guidance of the second generation. He was given the Buddhist lay name "Zaisin" by the Abbot of the Obaku sect, and in 1997, he succeeded the third generation and received the "Obaku Tosho" certificate again.
