This is an old Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It's a beautiful piece with a vibrant vermilion interior and elegant maki-e (sprinkled picture) on a pear-skin ground. The luxurious phoenix maki-e is of very high quality, with each individual feather meticulously and three-dimensionally rendered. The design is elaborate, with paulownia, often paired with phoenixes, adorning both the lid and the body. There are only minor storage scratches, and overall, it is in good condition.
