This piece is a sometsuke chrysanthemum-patterned confectionery bowl from the Arita-yaki Gen'emon Gama kiln in Tatebayashi. Originally, it was to be produced as a blue and red overglaze piece in the akae kiln, but the glaze didn't fully melt, resulting in a second-class product that wasn't fired in the akae kiln.
