This is a mukouzuke (small dish) purchased at an antique market. The color-painted design is nice. The square gold window features plum blossoms. The central grass pattern is impressive. The rectangular window depicts a flower basket. The balance of the folded windows is good. The lower right is a tortoise shell pattern. The upper left has a rare design. The inside of the bowl features pine, bamboo, and plum. The rim has a shihou tasuki (four-direction sash) pattern. The foot appears to have a stylized lotus petal design. The period is likely from the late Edo period to the Meiji period. There is a chip on the inside of the rim. The foot has either a chip or a kiln scar.
