This is a traditional household item called a "mino," made in the Torigoe and Morioka regions of Iwate Prefecture. It is woven from locally-produced Suzutake bamboo. The basket has a beautiful pattern of three vertical and one horizontal weave. The rim is large and tightly woven, making it easy to carry. Two horizontal accents are added with black-colored bamboo. The width is about 48cm, the length is about 46cm (excluding the horns), and the inner bottom is about 14cm deep. This is a rare-sized mino basket that can hold a lot of items. This is an unused, stored item. It is in beautiful condition with a yellowish bamboo color. It can be used for washing vegetables and grains, displaying products, or as a small item holder. In local Iwate, it is also used for displaying and selling "Nanbu Senbei" (a type of cracker) and small items. We hope that those who love bamboo crafts and folk crafts will consider this item.
