Kou Kado, the head of the workshop, was born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1975. He is a Karakami craftsman. He creates works that modernize traditional Karakami techniques. Unique manufacturing method and expression: Karakami with white paint on a white background is a representative work. Uses traditional techniques to print patterns on washi paper using woodblocks. The delicate patterns subtly change their appearance depending on the light. Modern approach: Designs family crests and plants and incorporates them into modern designs. Develops everyday-use products such as letter sets and small envelopes. Mr. Kado studied product design. He switched to graphic design after studying in the United States. When he returned to Japan temporarily, he encountered Karakami at a Karakami workshop he happened to visit. After that, he trained for 5 years at the long-established "Karakicho" and established <Kamisoe> in 2009.
