A very lovely antique doily. A delicate and lovely, slightly trapezoidal doily decorated with unused (French or Belgian) bobbin lace on a cute antique French floral fabric. French roses with pink frilly petals, carnations, cosmos, and small flowers are outlined in a deep rose red. The small, scattered petals are delicate. White is seen at the tips of the petals, and a light yellow gradation is visible on the calyxes and pistils/stamens. There are also flowers resembling cornflowers in a deep aquamarine color, small flowers similar to bellflowers, and cute petals. The base is a slightly darker antique ivory. Soft, moist, and smooth cotton. The delicate bobbin lace, possibly woven in Bruges, Belgium, is made of thin, smooth natural linen thread with ♢-shaped decorative protrusions and a scalloped frill design. The pale oatmeal color is natural. It matches the floral fabric very well. It seems that it was woven into a slightly distorted shape when viewed from a square. After being finely sewn together on the surface, it is carefully protected by whipstitching, etc., on the back. Please forgive the following errors due to amateur measurements of handmade items.
