This is a classic style, 5-hole flute made of smoked madake bamboo. * Tube length: 47.8cm * Diameter near the mouthpiece: 21mm, diameter near the end: 21.5mm * Mouthpiece size: 12.5mm (vertical) x 10.5mm (horizontal) * Inner surface coated with black lacquer * Reflector: beeswax This smoked madake bamboo was sourced directly from a famous bamboo shop in Kyoto. It has almost no bends, and the smoked color and pattern are appealing. It is made of extremely hard material. The tuning is based on the Shishida scale. I aimed for the same ease of playing as a general shinobue flute, including the "shigi" sound, while also producing a rich sound characteristic of the ultra-hard smoked madake bamboo.
