This is a Tsugaru-style kokeshi doll by Mr. Ima, in the style of Tatsuo Hasegawa. Mr. Ima was originally scheduled to become a disciple of Kinichiro Sasaki, the son of Kinjiro Sasaki of Owani, but Kinichiro died suddenly on the day he was to become a disciple. Consequently, he became a disciple of Tatsuo Hasegawa, Kinichiro's uncle. Therefore, he has been making dolls in the styles of Kinjiro, Kinichiro, and Tatsuo from the beginning. The kokeshi doll for sale is a fine piece from March 1983, just before Mr. Ima moved to the Gake Onsen hot spring. It is neither too hard nor too delicate, and is considered to be from the peak of his career. Height: approximately 18.0 cm. Please refer to the images. Thank you.
