(Sanskrit: Garuda) A giant bird in Indian mythology that is said to habitually eat dragons. In Buddhism, it is included as one of the Eight Legions of Heavenly Dragons and is considered a guardian deity of the Buddhist law. It is also said that the Tengu in Japan are a variation of this.
