They had been stored away for a long time, so there were some starch stains. They have been gently hand-washed and ironed. They have not been used. Please refrain from purchasing if you are overly concerned about minor imperfections. One handkerchief has embroidery across the entire surface. The others have a single point of embroidery, with small embroidery in the other 3 corners. If you are good at handicrafts, you could sew them onto a pouch and edge them with tape or ribbon to make a lovely pouch. You don't see them very often these days, but I've heard that in the past, young women would damage their eyesight from doing this embroidery work.
