Type of Kimono: Komon (small pattern) This is a Komon with an auspicious design featuring Takarazukushi (treasured objects) and dyed Kanoko (fawn spots) in an Ichimatsu (checkerboard) pattern. Suitable for celebrations, it can be worn for New Year's, parties, and other festive occasions. This kimono was purchased and tailored at an exhibition of the Go-mei-kai (a federation of long-established kimono stores in Tokyo). At the time, stores like Ginza Kishi-ya were still in business, along with Nihonbashi Echigoya, Shibuya Tamagawa-ya, and Kasahara, all prestigious members. I don't shop there anymore, so I don't go, but it seems they are still operating. I've only worn it twice for New Year's and it has been cleaned and stored. I'm no longer at an age where I wear it, so although it's a favorite kimono, I'm letting it go. As I've entered late old age, my height has shrunk by 4cm, and the Yukitake (sleeve length) is too long, making it difficult to wear. There are no stains or spots. The lining is also clean, using high-quality Doura (body lining) and Hakake (hem lining). The tailoring was done by a first-class wasai (Japanese tailoring) skilled craftsman, and the pattern matching is beautifully done! The appearance changes depending on the obi (sash) you pair it with. I think it's a kimono that can be worn widely depending on the occasion. I loved it, so I cherished it.
