This is a kyusu (teapot) from Tomisen Kiln, Tokoname ware. Black cosmetic clay was applied to the red clay, and then a cherry blossom design was painted on top and fired at 1100 degrees. The painting is done by hand. This kyusu is the type where you put tea leaves in the main body of the teapot and strain them with the stainless steel tea strainer at the spout. The stainless steel tea strainer is attached to the spout side and has a structure that is difficult to clog, so you can use it with confidence even with fine tea leaves. The unglazed surface absorbs the bitterness of the tea and has the effect of bringing out the umami. Please consider this kyusu to have a capacity of 2.5 cups of yunomi (teacups) (assuming 1 cup is 100ml). After use, wash it promptly (detergent is acceptable), rinse with water, and dry it well. Please be careful as soaking in chlorine bleach may leave an odor.
