This brooch pin is made using the stained glass technique with a vintage, strawberry-like glass cabochon, copper tape, copper sheet, and lead-free solder. The vintage deadstock, matte red strawberry, approximately 2cm x 1.7cm, is West German-made and similar to those found in Sarah Coventry costume jewelry and Austrian vintage brooches. The calyx is made from small, Czechoslovakian glass leaf beads, which have been further trimmed down. The cut and shaped white glass is from approximately 40-year-old stained glass, made in the USA. Its surface has an aurora effect, appearing white, pink, or green depending on the angle, creating a beautiful look. The edges have been smoothed to prevent sharp points. The pin hardware is a Japanese-made rotating pin. Lead-free solder is more difficult to work with than regular solder containing lead, and this piece was carefully crafted over several days.
