It makes a "peep peep" sound when you blow the bamboo flute, and the wind from the flute turns the pinwheel. The doll attached to the pinwheel (perhaps a Chinese boy) also spins, and the drum is struck by the balls hanging from the arms. This colorful mechanical toy is said to have been inspired by the festival floats of the Inuyama and Nagoya festivals. It used to be sold at stalls during temple festivals, but it seems to have been discontinued now.
