This is a Nagoya obi that delicately depicts the scene of cherry blossom petals fluttering in the wind, each one hand-painted. It's a truly wonderful obi. While there are many obi featuring cherry blossoms, those depicting the scene of falling petals are not often seen. Underneath the full bloom of cherry blossoms, the falling petals evoke a sense of anticipating the season, a beauty appreciated by kimono connoisseurs. I wore it often for my children's entrance ceremonies and also for graduation ceremonies, and received many compliments. It has been professionally cleaned. As I'm getting older, I'm downsizing my belongings. With the rising cost of everything these days, I wonder if there are still artisans who can create such pieces, and if so, the price would likely be high. This is a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted piece, so you won't find another like it. A shawl of pale cream crepe with extremely pale pink cherry blossoms. I used it only 2 or 3 times, but I found a small stain (photo 7). The obi締め (decorative cord) with the red center is from Kyoto Kineya. I hope someone with children entering school or graduating next spring will wear this. I am not considering selling them separately. I would like to sell them together.
