○ Product Description ○ This is a small mallet-motif teacup made by Ninsei Nonomura. It is a magnificent and tasteful masterpiece with a beautiful scene. It comes in a double box, and the outer box lid has the kao (signature) of the 13th generation of the Omotesenke school, Sokichusai. ○ Ninsei Nonomura ○ A Kyoyaki potter from the early Edo period. He was also known as Seiemon Nonomura and is said to have come from Nonomura, Tanba Province. He studied pottery techniques in Seto, Mino, and Awataguchi, Kyoto, at a young age, and around 1647 (Shoho 4), he started the Omuro-yaki kiln in front of the Omuro Ninna-ji Temple. During the Meireki era, he combined the "Nin" from Ninna-ji Temple and the "Sei" from Seiemon to create the name "Ninsei," and stamped the mark "Ninsei" on his products. The Omuro kiln during its opening period mainly produced tea utensils and kaiseki dishes, such as tea caddies copied from Karatsu and Seto, and imitations of Korean tea bowls, with innovative shapes favored by Sowa Kanamori, and elegant rust paintings, sometsuke (blue and white), and overglaze enamels. ○ Size ○ Diameter 12.5cm / Height 7cm (Please allow for some errors) ○ Condition ○ The inner box is damaged. We have confirmed that the item itself is flawless, but there may be some age-related wear and tear. Please take a good look at the photos and ask any questions if you have any concerns. Shipping will be via Sagawa Express.
