This compact mirror with a short handle is very popular with people from overseas. The size is as shown in the photo. It is a lacquerware hand mirror with a floral design, created using the maki-e technique. This is a traditional Japanese craft, made by applying patterns with gold powder and other materials on black lacquer. Type: Hand mirror or compact mirror. Material: Often made of wood or ABS resin, with a lacquer coating. Technique: The gold and orange floral patterns are drawn using maki-e, a representative Japanese lacquer art technique (a technique of drawing pictures with lacquer and sprinkling metal powder before it dries). It was a gift. It's lacquered and has a small floral pattern in gold powder. I received it and have kept it stored at home in my dresser. Please refrain from purchasing if you have any concerns. Because the handle is small, it was apparently used in places like Kyoto by being tucked into the obi (sash) of a kimono.
