This is a special collection of five carefully selected wooden carved masks, considered to be a type of cursed object. It includes masks of Hannya, Noh, Hyottoko, Okina, and Otafuku, each offering its unique charm and meaning. These masks were acquired from a long-established ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in Aomori. They came into my possession due to the inn's closure. The Hannya mask is a powerful symbol in Japanese legends and mythology. It represents emotions such as anger and jealousy, while also symbolizing the power to overcome them. Displaying a Hannya mask in your room is believed to ward off evil and improve luck. Noh masks are used in Noh theater and are crafted with great precision, possessing rich emotional expressions.
