This type can be worn more lightly and elegantly than the typical brushed wool flannel. While flannel board shirts are popular in the market, I personally think this is higher quality as a wool. Also, the sheen makes it less likely to have a heavy vintage feel, which is a good thing. It's easy to use as an inner layer in the fall and winter, and as a single layer in early spring.
