This work features a delicate and humorous expression of a wild boar. It has the kao (signature) of Tantansai on the inside of the incense container lid. As it has a written inscription by Tantansai, it can be used with confidence at important tea ceremonies. The box lid has a handwritten inscription by Tantansai that reads "Wild Boar Incense Container, Kyuho-zo, Kyo-nushi," and the inside of the box has the inscription "Kyuho-zo" with the square seal of "Shuseiken" and the seal of "Kyuho." "Shuseiken" is the name of the tea room in the Kyuho kiln, named by Tantansai. There are no scratches or repairs. Comes with a matching box. 8.4 cm long, 3.6 cm wide, 3.3 cm high *All measurements are maximum values. ▢ Urasenke 14th Generation Tantansai Soshitsu 1893-1964 The 14th head of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony. The eldest son of the 13th generation Urasenke, Ennosai. His childhood name was Masanosuke, and his art name was Sekiso. He succeeded as the head of the school at the age of 30. He established the Tankokai for the unification of the school and the International Tea Ceremony Culture Association for overseas promotion and cultural exchange. He received the Medal of Honor with Blue Ribbon, the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon, and the Order of the Rising Sun, Third Class, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. He died in a hotel in Hokkaido in 1964 at the age of 71. ▢ 2nd Generation Kuze Kyuho 1897-1974 Ceramics. Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware). Kyoto. The eldest daughter of the first generation Kyuho. She studied under the first generation.
