These are plain-toe shoes made in Japan from patent (enamel) leather. I was considering buying Crockett & Jones / CHEAM or Church's / ALASTAIR for a wedding or reception, but I was drawn to the precise craftsmanship and beautiful silhouette of these Japanese-made shoes, and purchased them at Edifice. The purchase price was about the same as those made in the UK. To reduce bulk, they are made with the cemented construction method, and as leather shoes, they have the highest level of formality, along with opera pumps. They can be worn with formal attire such as tailcoats and tuxedos, so they can be widely used both on and off, from dress codes to a clean look. I have cleaned them each time with a special enamel leather cleaner, so there is no major cracking or other damage, but there is a crack of about 1cm on the right little finger area (photos 11 and 12). They are in good condition, but there is some cloudiness typical of enamel. Basically, I think it can be removed with a cleaner, but as they are stored personally, there may be oversight of minor scratches, etc. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to this.
