Sumo magazine "Sumo" January 2006 issue (prospectus for the January 2006 tournament) published by Baseball Magazine Sha. The cover features newly promoted Ozeki Kotooshu. Included are a Kotooshu photobook and the banzuke (ranking) for the January 2006 tournament. Color pages include the Ozeki promotion ceremony of Kotooshu, the 80th-anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Foundation, a gallery of kesho-mawashi (ceremonial aprons) of all makuuchi and juryo wrestlers, and new makuuchi wrestler Kaikaze. Monochrome pages include a directory of all gyoji (referees), a directory of all yobidashi (ring attendants) with beautiful voices, and Asashoryu aiming for his 8th consecutive championship. Main articles include interviews with the new and former Sadogatake Oyakata (stable masters), Kaikaze as told by his family, "Looking for the Sekitori of Tomorrow," the lineage of retired wrestlers like Kotonowaka, and "Sumo World in 2005 by the Numbers." The center monochrome pages feature the "Top 10 News of the Sumo World in 2005," a photo album of memories of Kotonowaka and others, and new juryo wrestlers (Mokoran, Toyomasho, Satoyama). The main body of the magazine has no significant tears, writing, or cut-outs, but the included photobook has noticeable damage (photos 2 and 3). Also, as this is an old magazine from about 20 years ago, there is considerable age-related deterioration such as stains, damage, and scratches. Please consider this carefully before purchasing.
