This is a set of four Yoshino-nuri lacquerware bowls, a type of Kyoto lacquerware. The elegant, vermilion-edged black lacquer is beautifully complemented by the charming hibiscus design in red lacquer. The design evokes the ruggedness of a warrior's armor from the Warring States period, while also conveying the aesthetic sensibilities of the medieval era. As shown in the images, there is some slight discoloration inside the soup bowls, but they are in good condition with almost no warping. The large rice bowls measure 13.7 cm in diameter and 11 cm in height, while the smaller soup bowls measure 12.8 cm in diameter and 9 cm in height. We have more in stock, though they also have some slight discoloration. Please understand that these are antique items.
