Offered for sale to organize my collection. The mark on the foot rim is the character for "Tsutsue" (筒江) written in a stylized form within a double frame, and is painted in sometsuke (underglaze blue). This piece was made at the Tsutsue kiln in Yamauchi-cho, Arita, and is a rare example among Ko-Imari ware that bears the kiln's name. I believe this is a high-quality Ko-Imari plate with a Tako-karakusa (octopus arabesque) design, in terms of its sometsuke, design, and firing. Diameter: Approximately 14.5 cm Height: Approximately 4.5 cm Each of the three plates has kiln marks, but I believe they are generally in good condition, with no cracks or chips. Please consider this item with the understanding that it is an antique.
