This is a glass plate with a wave pattern, made by Hisashi Iwata. It has a diameter of approximately 26.5cm, making it easy to use and a beautiful piece that can also be displayed. This item comes with a box, but we also have the same plate available without a box. Born in 1925 as the eldest son of Tōshichi Iwata II in Shinjuku, Tokyo. 1944: Enrolled in the Design Department of the Crafts Department at Tokyo Fine Arts School. 1948: Research student in the glass research laboratory of the Ceramics Department at Tokyo Institute of Technology, receiving guidance on glass composition from Professor Taro Moriya. Joined Iwata Glass Manufacturing Co., Ltd. 1949: First exhibited and selected for the 5th Nitten Exhibition. 1953: The company name was changed to Iwata Kogei Glass Co., Ltd., and he became the Representative Director and President. 1972: Founded the Japan Glass Crafts Association and became its first chairman. 1973: Director of the Ceramic Society of Japan (in charge of crafts). 1974: Councilor of the Contemporary Crafts Artists Association. 1976: Received the Minister of Education Award at the 8th Nitten Exhibition. 1979: Received the Medal of Honor with Blue Ribbon. 1994: Died on January 8th at the age of 68.
