Pure silk Otaiko width: 31 cm Length: Not measured (I believe it's a standard Nagoya obi length) This is a beautiful Nagoya obi with a subdued red base color, hand-painted with treasures and toy motifs using Yuzen dyeing. The otaiko also features subtle gold thread embroidery. Although the base color is red, it's not overly flashy or old-fashioned, possessing a color palette by Kitagawa-san that combines both vibrancy and elegance. It would be perfect for occasions like New Year's when paired with pongee, komon, or lighter tsukesage kimonos. Although it was tailored, I haven't had many opportunities to wear it, so I'm offering it while it's still in beautiful condition. The basting threads are shown in the photos, but they have been removed for internal inspection.
