I believe this is a copy of "Nanshu-sho," a writing by Takamori Saigo. The wooden box itself seems authentic, but the person who mounted the calligraphy even left explanatory notes on the back, which makes me think it was created with the mindset of "a product to be sold." I found the exact same calligraphy online through image search, but I couldn't trace its origin. I'm having trouble setting a price. I've determined it's a copy, but since this is an old house in Kyoto, there's a small chance it could be the real thing, so I'd like to factor that dream into the price. I would appreciate any comments.
