His style ranges from SF works such as "Biological City" and "Dreaming Machine" (1974), to works with a folkloric and archaeological perspective seen in the "Yokai Hunter" series (1974-), works with anthropological considerations and scale such as "Madmen" (1975-82), works that reveal a bold worldview based on the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki myths such as "Dark Myth" (1976), works influenced by Eastern literature and thought such as "Saiyu Yoenden" (1983-) and "Shokaishii" (1984-2011), works that give a sense of natural history such as "Private Edition of Birds" (2000-03) and "Private Edition of Fish" (2004-06), and works that incorporate various elements and focus on everyday life such as the "Shiori and Kamiko" series (1995-). Combined with Morohoshi's unique drawing style, which is said to be inimitable, each work creates a unique world. This exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of Daijiro Morohoshi's debut and will feature approximately 350 original drawings of his representative works, along with art works and historical/folkloric materials closely related to his world.
